What is the hardest part of being an interior designer??? Is the the ability to coordinate colors?? Finding a suitable school?? Drafting?? Finding a Job??
This is a very good question & it is still to be determined. However, I believe the hardest part of having a successful Design Business is Marketing yourself to others as a "Must Have". Most people believe that in order to hire a designer, you must be rich or wealthy. This is far from the truth. Honestly, with the economy in the state that it is in, you can find an Interior Designer or Decorator to fit, just about, any budget. Depending on the scope of your project & your initial budget, someone is always available to help.
And help is what is needed??? I have customers that come in to buy rugs or furniture & they CAN NOT make a decision. Most people can't conceptualize a rug under a sofa & coffee table or a dining table with 4 chairs & a bench, let alone an entire room with all the finishes & accessories. This is why designers are here & what designers go to school for! Even if you can't afford or don't want the full designer experience, it saves you time & money to consult with a professional on the different options that are out there & gives designers the business & opportunity to prove their abilities.
Next time you decide to pick out a new sofa or paint the walls..... call me & help could be closer than you think...lol
